Family Law

Family Law can be a very complex and emotional process. No one wants to experience the breakdown of a family. Attorney Logan can help ease the stress by zealously representing you in your family law issues.

  • Divorce (contested and uncontested)

            Contested

                        A contested divorce requires litigation.

            Uncontested Divorce

Uncontested divorces are usually handled with a settlement agreement or through mediation.

  • Custody of child/visitation

Child custody can be very stressful. Under Alabama law, the court may give custody to the father or mother as the court deems suitable and proper after much consideration. K. Logan Law Firm can help you gain temporary or permanent custody of your minor child. In addition, we can help with a visitation plan so each parent can still be a part of the minor child’s life.

  • Spousal support

Alimony, also called “spousal support,” is money one spouse pays the other for financial support. The purpose of alimony is to ensure that both spouses are financially able to pay ordinary living expenses during and after the divorce.

  • Child support

Under Alabama law, every child has the right to receive support, and every noncustodial parent has an obligation to pay support for a minor child.

  • Guardian Ad Litem

The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) speaks on behalf of your child or children. They advocate for what they see as the best interest of the child or children involved in the case.

Probate

  • Estate Planning

This assembles the combination of Will, Trust, Healthcare Directives, Power of Attorney, and documents that fit a person’s specific needs.

  • Guardianships/Conservatorships

Guardianships/Conservatorships help benefit persons from minors to elderly adults with special needs.

  • Estate Administration

Administration of estates refers to the management and settlement of estates of an intestate. Intestate is a person who dies without a will.

Dispute Resolution

  • Mediation

The mediation process allows parties to consider the fairest and most reasonable solutions and avoid negative outcomes associated with litigation.

If you and another party are in dispute over property, custody, divorce, or any other issue but do not want the court to decide the outcome, you can instead go to mediation.

Mediation is a chance to resolve disputes amicably without the stress or cost of a court trial. While mediation may not always work, it is an excellent alternative for those who prefer to avoid a court case.
